Warbird Expo
​
The Warbird Expo is presented by the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. Its mission is to preserve WWII aircraft in flying condition to honor the thousands of men and women who built, serviced, and flew these magnificent aircraft.

​The public can purchase warbird rides in any of the Capital Wing aircraft appearing at the Stafford Airshow subject to weather, maintenance, and pilot availability. Scheduled to appear:

Stinson OY-1. Flown by the Marines and this aircraft has actual combat experience. It flew combat observation missions at the Battle of Saipan in June 1944. One passenger, age 12+

Fairchild UC-61 Forwarder. Built by Fairchild in Hagerstown, MD this model was used by he US Coast Guard in WWII for anti-submarine patrols off the Atlantic coast. Carries up to three passengers, age 12+ Children age 5-12may fly with a parent on board.

Boeing PT-17 Stearman open cockpit bi-plane. Used as a primary trainer for virtually all US airmen in WWII. One passenger, age 12+

Vultee BT-13 Valiant. Basic trainer in WWII to teach the fundamentals necessary to fly fighter aircraft. Same model as flown by the Tuskegee Airmen. One passenger, age 12+

General Motors TBM Avenger torpedo bomber. Largest and heaviest single-engine bomber in WWII. Powered by a 1,900 hp radial engine. Unique wing folding process. One passenger in observer seat, one passenger in turret seat, age 12+

Any rides not sold in advance will be available for purchase on-site at the airshow.

Static aircraft schedule to appear at the Stafford Airshow include:

Japanese Fuji LM-1. A post-WWII transport/observation warbird based on the Beechcraft T-34 Mentor. Only 27 were built and this is one of only four still flying.

French Alouette II. The world's first jet-powered helicopter.

Piper Cub J-3 from WWII.

North American T-6.

Douglas C-53. WWII troop transport version of the iconic Douglas DC-3.
